Which species should I choose?
- Economy logs – Faster-burning, best suited to very occasional or short fires.
- Birch – Lights easily, burns longer than economy logs, and produces bright, lively flames. A great match for modern stoves and first-time log burners.
- Ash & Beech – Longer-burning hardwoods that give steady heat for more regular use.
- Oak – Our longest-burning option, ideal for extended or all-day burning.

While other online suppliers advertise similar-looking large crates, theirs often contain up to a third less wood due to significantly narrowed dimensions combined with vastly inflated volume claims. The truth is buried in their stated crate dimensions - if they state them at all.
The crate contains the equivalent of approximately 3.5 builders bags of logs, or 2.7m3 (cubic metres) of loose logs – this figure is based on multiplying the internal stacked volume of the logs with a multiplier of 1.7 – the industry standard for calculating the loose volume of logs from a stacked load. This is the main benefit of buying our stacked crates.
We recommend the full crate for intensive use of wood burners throughout winter – one should last you the entire season.
